Abstract

The Biodiversity Assessment and Monitoring Protocol in the Central Forest Spine Landscape provides a set of specific inventory protocols for eight taxonomic groups: ants, butterflies, dung beetles, large mammals, small mammals, herpetofauna, herbaceous plants and trees. These groups were selected based on their sensitivity toward environmental changes. These protocols were implemented in the states of Perak, Pahang and Johor under the IC-CFS project. The aim of this publication is to provide guidance and reference for survey methodologies and to build capacity of field personnel in other agencies. This publication fulfills one of the objective under the IC-CFS project which aims to enhance current land management plans in the identified landscapes to ensure the integration of biodiversity and ecosystem service values and that all planned land use activities are sustainable.
