Abstract

This paper described the size, location, accessibilty, climatic features, geology, flora, fauna, recreational resources and facilities available within Taman Negara which is the sole National Park in Peninsular Malaysia. It also discussed the national park management systems which included its objectives, administration, law enforcement, interpretive programmes and maintenance of resources. Management systems of other protected areas for threatened and endangered species, elephant (Elephas maximus) translocation, captive breeding and wildlife research were reviewed.
