Abstract

Proper post capture handling techniques will determine the survivability of the serow (Capricornis sumatraensis). Chemical immobilization is used during handling of serow at the trap to reduce stress to the animal and danger to the handler. The drugs used and their dosage, crate design, transportation, restraint methods during confinement, blood collection and fecal evaluation, feeding and behavior of the animal during captivity are also discussed in this paper.
