Abstract

A Reconnaisance survey of serow (Capricornis sumatraenis) in Pelangi forest reserve in Negeri Sembilan was conducted in January 1990. The purpose of the survey was to find out location and number of serows in the area before capture operation started. The survey was done by tracking along the abandoned logging roads. Tracks of 13 animals were recorded. A shelter cave was found where conspicous and climbing marks were observed. Pelangai forest reserve was found to be a suitable area for serow capture work.
